Consumer Alert on: Costco’s Pandigital Digital Photo Frames – 7″ & 8″

I have now bought 3 Pandigital photo frames from Costco. 2 – 7 inch frames and 1 – 8 inch frame (Costco changed stock).  I gave one to my Mom then my Dad and we have the 3rd.  Every time we visit I update their photo frames with New Baby Pictures… these frames have been great for that.

NOTE: of the other digital photo frames I have seen and worked with, these are pretty decent.  Plus, my Mom likes it.

HOWEVER…

You should be aware before purchasing that…

Using this digital photo frame for playing videos is VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE!

… and should only be attempted IF you are a video conversion genius.  No-Joke, saying this device plays videos borders on “False Advertising” – IMO.  (the arrows in the photo illustrate the false advertising, including the “glass” reference which is actually plastic… duh.)

The Video Nightmare…

The manual, back of box, sales jargon & Pandigital’s FAQ all say that this frame plays AVI’s.

I tried several different .AVI videos with no luck.

I searched Google for answers, found a few solutions & tried them with no luck.

I tried 3 different “Video Conversion Programs” with countless different settings with no luck.

The Conclusion:

If you want a Pandigital Digital Photo Frame for viewing pictures (.jpg’s) or a really large MP3 player that must be plugged in then buy this frame.

If viewing videos is important to you… RUN SCREAMING from this device… unless you enjoy beating your head against the wall.
